AROUND THE WORLD IN EIGHT BIRMINGHAM RESTAURANTS

Updated: Apr 10

With the recent addition of several acclaimed West Midlands restaurants in the

2018 Michelin Guide, we’ve taken a look at some of the very best eateries in the region to suit every taste.

Great Britain – The Wilderness Dudley Street, Birmingham Wilderness is a small and unusual restaurant that serves modern, British fine dining from home grown ingredients. Impressive reviews have led to a six week waiting list for a table. To cope with the demand, the restaurant is planning a move to Bennetts Hill, in the heart of the city centre, for early 2018.

America – The Church Inn Great Hampton Street, Birmingham Situated on the edge of the popular Jewellery Quarter area of Birmingham, The Church Inn could be mistaken for a regular pub, but instead offers a culinary twist. Priding itself on traditional deep south cooking but with a French bistro fusion, The Church Inn serves delicious gumbo, classic chowder and a mouth-watering variety of burgers. India – The Keg and Grill Upper St Gough Street, Birmingham The Keg and Grill began life as the Gough Arms, and following a renovation maintained its cosy, traditional pub feel while also offering a tasty array of Indian cuisine. Renowned for being a hidden gem, The Keg and Grill boasts great value for money and a vast selection of beer and ales to compliment your meal perfectly. China – Chung Ying Central Colmore Row, Birmingham Situated right in the heart of Birmingham City Centre, Chung Ying Central not only offers an impressive variety of popular Chinese dishes, but also a cocktail menu not to be rivalled. It’s prime location makes it a popular spot with theatre and concert goers. Spain – El Borracho de Oro Harborne Road, Edgbaston Authentic Spanish food and great service has made El Borracho de Oro a popular eatery in a prime location between the thriving Five Ways and Edgbaston areas. The restaurant proudly supports its city, with many of their ingredients sourced locally from the famous Birmingham wholesale market. France – Bistrot Pierre Gas Street, Birmingham Overlooking Birmingham’s busy canalside, traditional French eatery Bistrot Pierre is situated in a beautiful Grade II listed building in one of the city’s most popular areas. With menu options including petit dejeuner, a la carte, and the six course set dinner ‘soiree gastronomique’, there is something to satisfy every taste. Italy – Buonissimo Albany Road, Harborne This small but popular Italian restaurant attracts regular customers through its authenticity and fresh approach to its menu by adapting to each season. Its prime location on Harborne High Street, just outside Birmingham city centre, makes it easily accessible for city dwellers and locals alike. Caribbean Islands - Turtle Bay John Bright Street, Birmingham Fantastic service and great deals on its drinks menu makes Turtle Bay a firm Birmingham city centre favourite. Despite having several restaurants in the UK, the atmosphere still manages to feel unique and personal. With a vast menu inspired by beach shacks and traditional Caribbean street vendors, you are guaranteed a flavourful dish no matter what your choice.
