Pershore
Pershore has a long history as a market town, dating back to at least the Anglo-Saxon period. This is evidenced in the rich architectural styles evidenced along the High St, within the Pershore Conservation Area. Pershore is also renowned for its association with plums, having been established around a thriving plum industry, and it still plays host to the annual Pershore Plum Festival. The site of Atlas Works has been a longstanding employer for the local community, having started out as an industrial blacksmithing site before becoming the home to Allen Gears, who took up residency in the town in 1956. After demand for commercial sites of this nature dwindles in favour of more modern accommodation, the site started to fall into disrepair due to the cost of upkeep. The site now presents an opportunity for regeneration, cleaning up an area of brownfield land whilst delivering much needed new homes for the local community.
